Captured Student of Week Four

On the farm yesterday, fava plants were harvested for the compost. Fava are particularly valuable as Tess Tabot points out. What is she pointing at? Well, its a rhizobium, a nitrogen fixing nodule. It enjoys a symbiotic relationship with bacteria that digest material, provide nitrogen for the plant, especially at seed producing time.
