Captured Student of Week Eight: Damon Williams

At long last, Damon Williams endless paper work is nearly complete. In the month of April it will be official that he is the newest work-study student at the Farm, and there is no question that he will be an asset. No stranger to hard work, Damon worked 9-hour days for the Conservation Corps building trails around Marin in 2009, before his move to Oregon. He spent 4 months in Portland Oregon with the intention of living sustainably, but returned to Marin with the specific purpose of working on the Farm to gain more knowledge to achieve his goal of sustainability. Damon is a California native who has lived all over the Bay area. For now he resides in Novato, which makes for an excellent commute to the farm and school for the 6 required units it takes to be an active participant in the work-study program. Damon is interested in primitive cultures, and a low-impact, back to nature lifestyle. His main goal is to “start a community in a wooded area with the intention of living sustainably off the grid”. He dreams of getting away from society at large and building a more Utopian place where it is possible to control your own life and have true freedom, while not being dependent on social hierarchy.
